The second day of the VTB Capital Investment Forum started with the panel session “Metals and Mining: adapting to the new normal”.
The session was attended by: Alexey Kulichenko, Chief Financial Officer at OAO Severstal; Oleg Mukhamedshin, Director for Strategy and Business Development at Rusal; Stanislav Ploschenko, Chief Financial Officer at OAO Mechel. The session was moderated by Wiktor Belski, Global Head of Commodities Research. The participants in the session discussed the prospects of the Russian metals and mining industry, the capabilities of Russian industrial companies to expand their business in global markets, as well as many other relevant issues.
Another panel session,“Modernizing Russia’s financial markets”, was held today. Alexander Afanasiev, Chairman of the Executive Board and CEO at MICEX; Alexei Moiseev, Deputy Finance Minister of the Russian Federation; and Sergey Shvetsov, Deputy Chairman of the Bank of Russia, all addressed the session. The moderator at the session was Alexei Yakovitsky, Global CEO at VTB Capital.
In the course of the session participants discussed issues such as reducing the cost of capital in the Russian economy, the introduction of the Central Depositary, creating conditions for privatization in the local market, development of the Moscow Stock Exchange, the evolution of the pension system and pension fund industry, and other essential issues for the Russian economy.
Today, VTB Capital Investment Management and the Institutional Investor magazine organized a joint session called “How to earn money in Russia today”, attended by the world’s leading portfolio managers and experts in the field of investment management. The session was moderated by Vladimir Potapov, Chief Executive Officer of VTB Capital Investment Management, and Ernest McCrary, editor and publisher at Institutional Investor.
