18 November 2014

Peter Stonor, Head of Transport, Infrastructure and Industrials at VTB Capital, participated in the 21st Global Airport Development Conference, held on November 17-20, 2014 in Athens, Greece.

On the first day of the conference, Peter Stonor acted as one of the expert jury members at the “Deals of the Year 2014” session, sharing VTB Capital’s expertise in financing the reconstruction, development and operation of Pulkovo Airport along with a consortium of international investors and operators. During the session, airport owners and operators presented their most recent transaction case studies and the audience voted for the best transaction of the year after the contenders answered the expert jury’s questions.

The second day of the event was marked by a panel session titled “Inside the Russian Growth Story: Which Regions & Market Segments Have The Highest Growth Potential & What Are The Potential Solutions To Current Bottlenecks?” During the discussion, Peter Stonor focused on current trends in the airport infrastructure sector in emerging markets, specifically in Russia. Speaking about the financing of such projects, he noted that there is a successful history of international involvement in the development of Russian infrastructure, including concessions and the public-private partnership model, which should serve as a solid foundation for future projects.

Each year the Global Airport Development Conference attracts industry leaders, airport operators and major investors from over 40 countries to discuss growth and innovation opportunities, latest trends and industry forecast.
