VTB Capital has been awarded “Investment Company of the Year” at the National “Company of the Year 2013” awards, outperforming nominees including Sberbank CIB and Deutsche Bank.
The prize, awarded in Moscow on 11th December, was given to VTB Capital for achieving substantial investment to the Russian economy, securing almost USD $37bn in 2013 and participating in close to 100 transactions in the international capital markets.
The award caps a successful year for VTB Capital in Russia and the global markets, which has seen the bank cement its leading position in international rankings such as Dealogic, Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters for all main business lines. Major highlights for VTB Capital in 2013 included VTB Bank’s SPO on the Russian exchange as part of the state privatisation programme, acting as global coordinator and bookrunner of ALROSA’s IPO, acting as a Senior Co-Manager on the Bank of America Corporation's Domestic Bond Offering, as well as many other significant transactions.
Throughout 2013, VTB Capital has continued to develop its global presence by expanding the product line and strengthening its team in the international offices. The company also entered into strategic partnerships with leading global financial companies, including CITIC Securities, one of China’s leading investment banks and Invitalia, Italy’s national agency for inward investment promotion and enterprise development.
Since its foundation, VTB Capital has also sought to promote effective dialogue between Russian businesses and international investors. In 2013, the company held the 5th Investment Forum "RUSSIA CALLING!" in Moscow, as well as forums in London and New York. The Forum has now established itself as a landmark event in the international financial calendar, receiving international awards including the prestigious Corporate & Financial Award for “Best ongoing communication with overseas investors and / or media”.
Alexei Yakovitsky, Global CEO at VTB Capital, said: "VTB Capital has celebrated its fifth anniversary in 2013 and we have achieved remarkable results in this short period of time, establishing ourselves as a reliable business partner in the global markets. This award underlines the success of our development strategy and we are proud to be acknowledged as the best investment company in 2013.”
The accolade is the latest in a series of awards for VTB Capital in 2013. In October, the bank was named "Most Innovative Bank from Central and Eastern Europe 2013" at the Investment Banking Awards organised by The Banker magazine. In July, VTB Capital received the Euromoney Award for Excellence in the category of “Best Investment Bank in Russia”. In February, VTB Capital won Global Finance magazine’s annual “World's Best Investment Banks" awards in two categories: Best Investment Bank in Central and Eastern Europe and Best Investment Bank in Russia.
