The VTB Capital RUSSIA CALLING!: London Session Investment Forum reached a successful close. The Forum was held in London from 31 May to 02 June. VTB Capital’s landmark event attracted almost 500 delegates, including 147 investment funds and representatives of 56 companies

One of the strategic aims of the Forum was promoting direct interaction between investors and high level Russian business leaders. Over 800 one-on-one meetings took place between the management of leading Russian corporations and investors.

The opening day commenced with a series of thought-provoking speeches by top officials and executives, including: Alexey Ulyukaev, First Deputy Chairman of the Bank of Russia and Dmitry Pankin, Head of Federal Service for Financial Markets. At the opening session VTB Group was represented by VTB Bank President and Chairman of the Management Board Andrey Kostin and First Deputy President and Chairman of the Management Board of VTB Bank, Chairman of VTB Capital holding companies Board of Directors Yuri Soloviev. The leaders of the Russian financial regulators discussed the growth forecast for 2011, including expectations for inflation and interest rates, as well as the state of the banking sector and best practice in financial market regulation.

The second day included a panel session with senior government officials, macroeconomists and strategists discussing the topic “Moscow as an International Financial Center”. H.E. Alexander Yakovenko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation opened the session, which included panelists: Dmitry Pankin, Head of Federal Service for Financial Markets; Lord Stephen Green, UK Minister of State for Trade and Investment; Ruben Aganbegyan, President, MICEX; Sergei Guriev, Rector of the New Economic School; and other prominent market experts. During the session panelists evaluated the investment potential of various sectors of the Russian economy, and also discussed the prospects of creating an international financial center in Russia.

VTB Capital also hosted a roundtable meeting with its top research team to discuss the economic outlook for Russia, including: Alexey Moiseev, Head of Macroeconomic Analysis; Neil MacKinnon, Global Macro Strategist; Dmitry Dmitriev, Head of Financial Institutions; and Nikolay Podguzov, Head of Fixed Income Strategy.

The final day of the Forum involved individual and group meetings between institutional investors and company. It also featured a discussion hosted by The Banker with VTB Capital representatives, investors and the management of leading Russian corporations. Key topics of the round table were such strategic issues as the funding environment for Russia, raising equity capital, private equity and M&A activity in banking sector.

The Forum was attended by 44 journalists representing 27 leading International and Russian media. The media programme prepared by VTB Capital consisted of 39 interviews with VTB Capital top managers. These media activities resulted in more than 70 articles appearing in the media after the Forum.
