VTB Capital hosted a roundtable discussion on Emerging Markets and Africa as part of the annual Pre-Summer Internship Training organised by Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) London for their intern Class who were about to start their summer internships across different banks. The meeting was hosted by Mark Richardson, Global Head of Equities at VTB Capital, Sylvain Mudikongo, International Origination at VTB Capital, and Tunji Fafemi, International Origination at VTB Capital.
The event, held in London, was attended by twenty interns of the SEO program, with positions or interest in EM focused teams across the various member banks. Tracey Abayeta, Programme Manager from SEO London, also attended the Session. SEO London is an alumni driven charity that seeks to improve the academic and career potential of students from under-represented communities. The charity seeks to support those from either or both (1) Black and other minority ethnic (BME) communities and (2) those from low income/first generation to university family backgrounds from all (BME and non BME) communities. This year SEO supported almost 400 students for the banking programme.
Mark Richardson, Global Head of Equities at VTB Capital, said: “VTB Capital has followed a focused and cost effective growth plan in Africa that has produced encouraging results. Starting with our ‘benchmark’ transaction for Angola, the deal pipeline has included – amongst others - transactions in Mozambique and Ghana. We are currently working on several deals which will further extend our footprint across the continent.
Head of Press
We are very excited about the region as our efforts continue to strengthen the historic ties between Russia and Africa. With its growing middle class population, increasing sophistication and strong economic growth, sub-Sahara Africa will present many excellent opportunities for both us and our clients”.
