VTB Capital has been named the “Russia and CIS Financial Advisor of the Year” in Mergermarket’s European M&A Awards, organized by the Mergermarket Group and The Financial Times. Alex Metherell, Head of Natural Resources at VTB Capital, received the award on behalf of the company at the ceremony that took place in London on 8th of December.
The awards recognize excellence in corporate, private equity, banking and legal M&A expertise, with winners chosen through a unique selection process that uses both independent opinion expert and empirical data. According to experts’ estimates VTB Capital was named the “Russia and CIS Financial Advisor of the Year”.
Mikhail Butrin, Co-Head of Global Banking at VTB Capital, said: “It means a great deal to us that our achievements have been acknowledged by the professional community. In 2011 VTB Capital has consolidated its position as the leading financial adviser in Russia and CIS, having worked on a total of 13 transactions (announced and/or closed) for a diversified and blue chip client base. The company’s leading position was once again demonstrated by the critical role it has played in some of the highest profile M&A transactions in the market such as Uralkali’s merger with Silvinit, the merger of MICEX with RTS, Megafon’s acquisition of Net-by-Net Holding and Norilsk Nickel’s divestment of OGK-3.”
